Are images not showing up on your WordPress site?

Are you getting a blank image and, if it’s there, alt text in its place?

Below is one example:

Plugins…

Like a lot of problems when it comes to WordPress, the problem usually has to do with plugins.

Plugins are extra code that gives your site extra functionality.

But sometimes they can break your site or cause problems in other parts of it in unexpected ways.

The fix for images not showing up on a WordPress site

When your site is having an issue that comes out of the blue, it’s a good idea to go to your plugins list in your /wp-admin and first make sure they’re up-to-date.

If they’re up-to-date and the problem persists, then deactivate them one by one.

When you deactivate a plugin, refresh your webpage or site to see if it fixes the problem in question.

If the problem is still there, you can reactivate that one and deactivate another.

It can be a bit time-consuming, but it’s necessary to figure out what’s breaking your site.

Another tactic is to deactivate them all at once, which should fix your problem right away, then reactivate one by one until the culprit is found and keep that none deactivated.

Whichever way you go about it, this should fix the issue.

Also, some plugins may more logically impact an issue like images not showing up than others.

For example, when images weren’t showing up on TME.net, it was an issue with our WP Fastest Cache plugin.

This makes sense, because WP Fastest Cache is more directly related to images than most other plugins.

So if you have a cache plugin – or multiple cache plugins on your site – that might be something to look into first.

When we deactivated the plugin, our images came back.

If cache plugins aren’t the issue, then look into other plugins.

Final word

When you’re having problems with images not showing up on your WordPress site, it is usually a plugin that’s causing the problem.

If they’re all up-to-date, deactivate your plugins one by one to find the problem.
