Get ready because the Marvel video game releases are not going to stop in 2022. We had a number of new releases recently including Guardians of the Galaxy, Marvel vs Capcom, new Spider-Man titles, and Marvel Ultimate Alliance.
The year of 2021 has seen the release of Marvel Future Revolution, a game to be played on mobile, developed by Netmarble. The fun does not stop here. Take a look at the top releases that Marvel has got planned for us.
Marvel’s Midnight Suns
Set to be released in March 2022, 2K Games and Firaxis have been working on producing an XCOM-style game called Marvel’s Midnight Suns. The game will feature strong characters like Ghost Rider, Captain Marvel, Dr. Strange, Wolverine, Blade, and others.
Rumour has it that the game will last for around 40-50 hours of gameplay, and it will also feature a turn-based card system for combat and battles. This game is set to release on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
Wolverine
Logan is back in Insomniac’s new game called Marvel’s Wolverine. This game was revealed at the PlayStation 2021 September Showcase, and it is set to be released on PS5 in 2023. The game is rumored to take place in the same world as Marvel’s Spider-Man. However, so far, there’s only a short trailer available, with hints that some big characters like The Hulk could make an appearance.
Wolverine makes part of Marvel’s X-Men, and the group has had its fair share of success across industries, including in the film and gaming industry. In fact, apart from the countless films and video games based on X-Men, there is even an X-Men slot game developed by Playtech that can be played even when gambling online in India (example).
Spider-Man 2
During the same Showcase that Wolverine was announced, a sequel to both Marvel’s Spider-Man and Spider-Man: Miles Morales was announced. Both Peter Parker and Miles will appear in the new video game of Spider-Man 2, as well as Venom. This game is scheduled to release in 2023, and till now, it is only predicted to release on PS5.
Untitled Marvel Project
The most recent announcement, and probably, one of the most exciting to date. This is a collaboration between Marvel and Skydance New Media. This untitled project is being led by Amy Hennig, the former creative director at Naughty Dog who is known for her work on the Uncharted series.
The details are still yet to be revealed for this new game, but we know that it will be a ‘narrative-driven, blockbuster action-adventure game, featuring a completely original story and take on the Marvel Universe.’
