Asus ROG Phone II goes official with Snapdragon 855 Plus and 6,000 mAh battery

Asus today unveiled its new gaming smartphone called Asus ROG Phone II as it was promised. The new device is mainly focused on hardcore gamers and there are some cool features that those people would be definitely liking. It offers to switch between almost near a Stock Android US and a heavily customized gaming skin with various gaming features.

The Asus ROG Phone II is crafted a glass design on both front and back framed with Aluminium structure. The handset accumulates a 6.59-inch 1080 x 2340 pixels Full HD 120 GHz OLED display with a 240Hz touch sampling rate. It supports 10-bit HDR having the lowest latency on any smartphone at 49ms as per the company’s claim.

Furthermore, the device boasts a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 Plus processor coupled with Adreno 640 GPU under the hood. As the Qualcomm claims, the Snapdragon 855+ is 4% more powerful than the original SD855 and 15% boost in Graphics power. The camera department is handled by the dual 48MP + 13MP rear camera, whereas, on the front, it has a single 24MP shooter to capture selfies. As for storage, it comes in two variants; either 12GB RAM and 256GB internal storage or the same quantity of RAM with whooping 512GB of built-in storage.

The device packs a 6,000 mAh non-removable battery, that can be charged with 30W ROG HyperCharge using a standard 3A cable, also Quick Charge 4.0 is also available without any doubt. Looking at the PUBG trend, Asus specially mentioned that it can let you play up to 7 hours of PUBG game in a single charge. All the necessary connectivity features are present in the device such as Bluetooth 5.0, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac/ad, A-GPS with GLONASS, 3.5mm headphone jack, NFC and USB Type-C for charging. The audio department is taken care by the dual front-facing stereo speaks with DTS:X and company claims to have 2.5x extra louder than the 1st gen ROG Phone.

However, the company didn’t make any official announcement regarding its pricing and availability, but a trusted source claims that it will be launching on August 1 in Taiwan or NT$26,990, which roughly converted into $870 USD. Apart from that, the company also offers some new accessories, such as the TwinView Dock II, which provides a dual-screen experience. There’s also a new ROG Kunai Gamepad controller.
