Qualcomm had yesterday introduced Snapdragon 855 Plus processor, an overclocked version of original 855 coupled with enhanced graphics power. Subsequently, Realme forwarded a message on Weibo hinting that they might be launching Snapdragon 855+ powered smartphone in the near future. The message originally reads “hello, Snapdragon 855+”, making it unclear about the specific device, but this is enough to assume that the company is preparing for a flagship-grade smartphone with top-notch specifications.
Going with the company’s past track record, the company never used Qualcomm 800 series in their devices as RealMe mainly focuses on the mid-range segment. Recently, there were some rumors that the company is working on the 5G enabled headset and Snapdragon 855+ is well capable of supporting the latest 5G technology. However, RealMe isn’t the first company to announce that, Asus Yesterday officially confirmed the arrival of Asus Rog 2 packed-in Snapdragon 855 Plus targeting the gaming lover audience.
The Snapdragon 855+ employs octa-core CPU clocked at 1×2.96 GHz Kryo 485 & 3×2.42 GHz Kryo 485 & 4×1.80 GHz Kryo 485, 4% extra CPU power compared to 855’s underclocked 2.84 GHz higher cluster. The GPU department also gets a 15% boost giving it more power to handle graphics-intensive tasks. The GPU frequency has been increased from 585MHz to 672MHz, while, the rest of the specs are unchanged. Moreover, the company officially confirmed that the Snapdragon 855+ commercially available in the second half of this year.
