Huawei had yesterday unwrapped its Mate 30 series in Germany. All three smartphones are powered by the latest Kirin 990. Benchmark platform Antutu now released the benchmark scores of a device with model number Huawei LIO-AL00, which is one of the Huawei Mate 30 Pro Chinese variants. It scores 4,57,357 points using the Antutu v8 test. Which are not comparable to Snapdragon 855 Plus, because some of the devices powered by 855+ reached around 5,00,000 mark.
It will worth noting that the mentioned device uses the Kirin 990 4G chipset, therefore, we can expect 5G variant to go beyond. To recall, there are multiple variants available of Huawei Mate 30 Pro smartphone with 5G and without 5G using two different chipsets. The Antutu post also pointed out that EMUI 10 uses some power-saving modes by default, which could be affecting the overall performance.
HiSilicon Kirin 990 vs Kirin 990 5G
As you might be aware of, Kirin 990 was launched in two variants at IFA 2019. The Kirin 990 5G brings slightly better CPU and built on TSMS’s highly power-efficient 7nm+ EUV node, wheres, the Kirin 990 uses standard 7nm process with slightly underclocked CPU. Other big difference is three cores NPU on 5G chip compared to dual-core on standard Kirin 990 SoC.
For CPU, the Kirin 990 on relies on tri-cluster octa-core CPU with two Cortex-A76 cores @2.86GHz, other two Cortex-A76 cores @2.09GHz and four Cortex-A55 cores @1.86GHz. On the other hands, the Kirin 990 5G has the same structure, but a slightly more powerful CPU. The tri-cluster CPU on 990 5G uses 2 x Cortex-A76 cores @2.86GHz, 2x Cortex-A76 cores @2.36GHz and 4x Cortex-A55 cores @1.95GHz. For an in-depth comparison, look at the recommended link.
